Questions You Might Have About Your Disability Claim
To qualify, you must have a disability that prevents you from working, according to Social Security's definition. For SSDI, you also need to have worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes on your earnings. For SSI, you must have limited income and resources. We can help you understand if you meet these requirements.
Contact us immediately after receiving your denial notice. You have the right to appeal, but your time to request one is limited. We offer a free claim review and evaluation to help you understand your options and move forward quickly.
It typically takes six to eight months to get a decision on your initial application, though this can vary depending on your condition and how quickly medical records are obtained. If appeals are needed, the reconsideration stage takes another 6 months, and the wait for a hearing is about a year (times vary depending on state and SSA workloads). We work directly with your medical providers to avoid unnecessary delays and keep your case moving forward.
You're not required to have representation, but research shows that people with help are much more likely to get approved than those who go through the process alone. We review your application to catch mistakes or missing information that could delay your case or lead to denial. We also work with Social Security and your doctors to make sure everything moves as smoothly as possible.
We don't charge any fees upfront. You pay nothing unless your claim is approved. When benefits are awarded, our fee is a percentage of your back benefits, capped at the SSA-approved maximum. All fee agreements must be reviewed and approved by Social Security, so you're protected throughout the process.
